Water rarely comes through the ceiling directly under the hole. It lands on a batten, runs along the felt, finds a rafter and drops out a metre or two away, which is why so many roof repairs miss. A new tile goes on above the stain, the stain comes back after the next storm, and the roof gets blamed. We start from the loft with a torch after rain, follow the tide marks back to where the water is getting in, then go up and fix that point.
Most leaks come from the same handful of places: a slipped or cracked tile, a ridge or verge where the mortar has washed out, a lead valley that has split along its length, flashings pulling away from a chimney or wall, or a flat roof section where the felt has blistered. Each has a proper repair, and each is quicker and cheaper to fix now than after a winter of water in the timbers.
If a roof is past sensible repair we say so. You get a fixed written price for the repair and, if it is worth knowing, the price of the bigger job too, and you decide.

How quickly can you come out for a leak?
Ring us as soon as you see water. Active leaks and storm damage go to the front of the queue, and we make the roof weathertight first before booking the permanent repair.
Can you repair just a few tiles?
Yes. Replacing a handful of slipped or broken tiles is one of our most common jobs, and it is priced as the small job it is.
Why does my roof leak only in heavy rain or wind?

Will my home insurance pay for the repair?
Storm damage is covered by most buildings policies, wear and tear is not. We photograph the damage and the repair so you have what the insurer asks for.

Is it better to repair or replace my roof?
If the covering and the felt are generally sound, repair. If tiles are failing all over, the felt has perished and the leaks keep moving, a re-roof is the better money. We give you an honest view and the price of both where it helps.
