Gutter cleaning clears the moss, leaves and silt that make gutters overflow down your walls every time it rains. Best Top Roofing cleans out gutters and downpipes by hand, reseals leaking joints and refixes sagging brackets, and because we are roofers we also spot the loose tiles and slipped ridges while we are up there.
A blocked gutter looks like a small problem until you see what the water does next. It pours over the front edge onto the path, or down behind the gutter onto the fascia and the wall, where it soaks the brickwork, rots the timber and can end up as damp on the inside of the house. Moss washed off the roof, leaves, silt and the odd tennis ball are the usual culprits, and houses near trees can block several times a year.
We clear gutters by hand from a ladder or access tower, bagging the waste instead of leaving it on your drive, then flush the gutters and downpipes to check the water runs freely to the drain. Leaking joints are resealed, loose or broken brackets are refixed so the gutter holds its fall, and blocked downpipes are cleared. One of our Google reviews is from a customer whose gutters were "blocked and overflowing" and who was very happy with the result.
While we are at gutter height we look at the edge of the roof: slipped tiles, cracked verge mortar, a ridge tile out of line. If we find anything, we tell you and send you a photo. There is no obligation to fix it.

How often should gutters be cleaned?
Once a year for most houses, usually in late autumn once the leaves are down. Houses near large trees often need cleaning twice a year.
Do you clean gutters on three-storey houses?
Yes. We use the right access for the height of the property, including towers where ladders are not safe.
Can you repair a leaking gutter at the same time?
Yes. Resealing leaking joints and refixing loose brackets can usually be done on the same visit. Badly damaged gutters can be replaced.
Will you leave a mess?
No. Everything we pull out of the gutters is bagged and taken away, and any splashes on paths are washed off.
Do you clean gutters for landlords and businesses?
Yes. We clean gutters for landlords, letting agents and small commercial premises, and can send photos and invoices directly to you.
